About the Wolf Creek Cherokee Tribe
		The Wolf Creek Cherokee Tribe,Inc., of Southwestern Virginia has tribal members located in many states as does most tribes in existence today.  In 2005 we re-resurected the community of Cherokee who did and still do live here in Southwestern Virginia the last portion of Virginia  purchased from the Cherokee by the government, where the majority of our people have continued to live as a community.   The tribe is not affiliated with the federally recognized Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, United Keetowah Band, or the Eastern Band of the Cherokees in North Carolina. The tribe is neither affiliated with any state recognized tribal entity. In no way should the tribe be construed to be a state or federal recognized tribal entity. We merely state that we are descendants of the once great Cherokee who resided in the southwestern part of Virgina and regardless of tribal recognition status, still claim their heritage from. Our mantra is to "preserve the past and secure the future while seizing the present.We invite all interested people,who are of Cherokee heritage, to come and join us. Enrollment into the Tribe does not entitle you to medical, educational, business or any other State or Federal benefits. We are not a state or federally recognized tribe. Moreover, we do not have requirements for a CDIB card, blood quantum,residency or a base roll. So long as you can prove by your genealogy and pedigree, that you are Cherokee, and these statements of fact can be verified by our genealogy office,then you may be excepted into the tribe as a welcomed member of the family. The leadership is comprised of a Principal Chief, Executive Director,Vice-Chief and Council Members. No officer of the tribe receives any payment or compensation for their services. The Wolf Creek Cherokee Tribe,Inc.,of Southwestern Virginia is a non-recognized tribal entity operating as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the State of Virginia. We trace our ancestry to the Cherokee that were in continuous existence until the Trail of Tears.   October 15th, ,2005
